Anyhow it's great that Debbie has accomplished all those things, but it's not that hard in the US if you know how to throw a decent stone. Let's face the facts, if Debbie was in Canada with her team she'd be eaten alive, and sure some of her victories were in Canadian cash spiels, but she didnt even play the finest curlers Canada has to offer. So good for her for beating some ubove average womens teams at the cash spiels and good for her getting those medals at the worlds after beating all the teams that don't even pose a threat.

Wow, I didn't my support of the home-town team deserved that kind of response. Backsing, if I offended you, not intentional. I hope they are not on the downslide as I think they are our best chance at medaling in Vancouver in 2010. There are some very good young teams on the rise, but maybe not in time for 2010. Let's let this team have their babies, get their games back and see what happens in Denver.

to answer your question murray, my wife not only played debbie mccormick but she beat her in a cashspiel a few years back. all debbie and allison would do is constantly complain about the ice (which was fantasic conditions) and high five eachother when my wife or her team mates missed, and afterwards debbie and the team avoided speaking with my wife and her team when they tried to strike conversation, and later spread rumours about my wife's team. as far as i'm concerned she's robotic and her team are a bunch of classless broads!!
Alrighty, if this page is about opinions of people then I'll throw in my two cents.
Debbie is great. She's a great curler and more importantly a great person. I have the same opinion of the other three on that team as well. But I've only known them for between 11-26 years respectively so I'll get a little more in depth.
As for the shabby treatment highbackswing's wife got I have a couple of things to say. There are two sides to every story, I highly doubt they were giving high fives because the other team missed, there are other reasons when women have been known to give each other high fives. Perhaps the ice wasn't fantastic, they do know good ice more than most and if they were complaining there was probably some reason for it - not an excuse to lose since both teams had to deal with it, but unless you were actually throwing stones it's pretty hard to tell either the ice or what they were actually saying. Not being overly friendly after the game? Have you ever been less than excited to chat when you just got done losing a game? Rumors? C'mon, are they in grade school? My guess is that either the rumors were true or Deb's team was just a good group of people to blame.
Debbie is one of the nicest people I know. She plays charity spiels for a good cause when she can. She helps out at all three of her clubs. She is the three time defending US champ and won a world gold medal to boot. She is far from a robot with or without a couple of drinks.
I guess my point is that it's fine to share your opinions on this site, but there's always more than one version of a story and bashing people doesn't really do a lot of good for the people on either end of the discussion.

My first memory of Debbie was at the 2003 world championships. A mutual friend introduced me to her and she thanked me for waving the US flag and cheering both the men's and women's teams. At the end of the championships, she took time to thank the fans and sign autographs. She inquired if I was going to the Continental Cup that fall (which I did and again in 2006 and 2007...perhaps 2008 this year).
When I was having a difficult time with my health in 2006, and going through the loss of a loved one, Debbie took time to call me and ask how I was doing. When she was visiting her friends in Omaha, she took time to have lunch with me and talk.
As what a previous person has said...there are two sides to every story.

ya debbie's great!! she really is a genuinly nice person. we had like a half an hour chat once when i went and watched one of the cashspiels. and all of her teammates are great too! and i know this brad pisicarich guy too! i played him a fews years back in a mens spiel in moosejaw. he was a huge hothead and blamed everything on his teammates. guy needs an attitude adjustment quick!! and his wife aint so special either, she's worse than him on the ice (shot making and temper!)

She won her one game of the year against a world champ and now they suck. It happens in curling, good teams get beat by bad teams. If your wife was any good she would still be playing and since nobody on the women's tour that is any good is named Piss-a-crotch, she can't be any good. In fact she is probably so bad her husband had to defend her by ripping on a team she beat once in a chat room. Wow that is fantastic. I am laughing so hard right now I can almost piss a crothing my pants. Hilarious!! Go back to your wife and tell her how good she is and if you tell her enough maybe she will believe you.

The guy is an idiot, and seeming that I've seen them both curl I can tell you I am suprised to hear that his wife actually competed in a cashspiel.... I mean she's a somewhat decent curler, but not at the level you should be at when you're wanting to make money. and trust me "your kidding right", this guy dont have no muscles at all, he's a scrawney little guy with curly hair and he wears sunglasses when he curls. He probably wears them to hide all the black eyes his wife is probably giving him lol. Now to be honest with all of you I'm kinda scared of posting all these things about him and his wife because I'm afraid he'll browse over this again and start blurting out all this BS he's been generating. I knew he was either a steroid driven musclehead or a puny sunglass-wearing-when-he-curls prick. Tired of being pushed around his whole life he decides on a bad day to take his anger and frustration out on anyone he can. Being weak he chooses to use the safety of the internet to target a woman and being even weaker he chooses one that lives in a different country and has class and he knows she will take the high ground and ignore it. He felt a little better after the initial post, but after being challenged his anger boiled up again a couple times into the foul mouthed rage he used to rebuff his detractors. He may or may not return to post but almost guaranteed he will at least come back to read them. His anger will next be played out in road rage or or perhaps kicking the cat. The worst part of it was he put his name out there and every spiel he goes to there will be whispers and pointing......
