Ice King Announces Expansion.

Ice King Announces Expansion.

Hey Duck Tape, how well do you know the guy at ice king? I stopped in the other day to pick up our blade and half the shop was torn apart, the grinder was in pieces, and walls were being moved. The owner (Bill I think) said that they were making room for a new grinder.

It is not the size of the shop or the momentary state of the manufacturing equipment that is important, it is the performance of the product. Keep in mind that less than 150 new scrapers are sold per year, worldwide. Ice King is obviously into continuous improvement of, not only their grinder, but their ice making equipment. Those who would judge a manufacturing plant by a snapshot of their appearance does not understand how success is built.

i have no idea, he may be doing renovations of some kind. If Bill said he's making room for a new grinder as you said, i'd go with that.... I live five hours from the shop, I have no idea on their day to day operations!

Heard last week that Ice King isn't expanding, but rather shutting down! The story I got was that all the employees were terminated and that Bill is starting up a new company in a few weeks, with a totally different name.

Of course this could be a nasty rumour, but it would smart for any club that deals with Ice King to check this out. I would think there would be some warranty issues and perhaps some problems with the blade sharpening services. Then again, there may not be any problems if Bill is still going to be doing business in the curling world.

Ok guys, listen. For the second year in a row the same rumor has popped up. Who ever have the axe to grind with me, please contact me and stop posting false accusations on an open chat line. Yes I let some of my staff go, it is the end of the season. How many of you ice makers are still employed at your home club right now with no ice? Is your club closing up shop? Because if they are I need to know so I can look for more options in the fall. Come on guys, get over it.

And oh yah, I don't hide behind a false name like some of you.

Bill Wood
Owner of ICE KING.

The more i read this massage you wrote the less I would advocate buying from you... It is just really rude for you to put down your own customers. I understand where you are coming from as I once worked at a floral shop(season work)... But to be rude to the people who buy your product is just uncalled for... unless that is what you want.

Guess time will tell how 'honest' you are.

And the term is 'username' not 'false name'. I'm assuming there is a reason why the forum gives you the option of using one. Of course if a member wants to use his real name, I'd assume there is a reason for that too. Perhaps for business reasons? Whatever the reason, using your real name doesn't make you braver or better than anyone else here.

I don't know what you guys are on about. Maybe you don't like the man, or maybe you don't like Ice King. That's fine. I don't know the man, but I know he's trying his best to provide a good product. I like Ice King, the machine is light and manoeuvrable and does a good job for me. My blades get done here, so I can't comment on that.

Someone posted the rumour that Ice King was closing. Did they check the facts? I don't think so. Bill replied and set the record straight. Good for you, Bill, keep going.

Ice King all the way. I had a broken piece of kit here in UK and with a few e-mailed photos and a description of the problem not only did Bill suggest a solution but sent the parts over pretty quick so that we could effect repair.

Hiya JM - hows The Circle coming on?

Not bad, mate. I'm writing the Mother of all reports on it spelling out the details, you'll be the first to see it.....
