So many locked threads, some very short, all pretty current... most in this forum, AFAIK. Why lock them at all, for that matter?
Just wondering.

Well, that was me up there. Logged me out for some reason.
They get locked after 60 days automatically, so that people don't keep contributing to old threads. I figure 2 months of discussion is probably good enough.
Mike
The thread about scratching the stones is not 60 days old nor idle... "Kerth" posted "1 day 20 hours ago".
Yet "Hats off" shows as active, but has not as recent a post.
Is it the icon on the forum list we're dealing with?
If so the lock is not working.
While we're at it, what does the star icon mean?
The icons don't seem to be doing anything but create confusion.
Perhaps threads could get 'auto-archived' if there is no new comment for 60 days [or some other cut off period].
Does it matter?
Jock
Hm. I would politely request rethinking that? If people are still contributing, it might be nice to keep them open? Just a thought, thanks for listening. :)
Squid ~ I agree with you in part but Mikey is right.
If someone has something particular to say, rather than just maundering, they can start a new thread.
