2005 Team Ontario - Junior Women
Rideau Curling Club, Ottawa

We can’t sing and we can’t dance - but we can curl - and we want to be this year’s Curling Idol!

Last season, we won the Ontario Junior Women’s Provincial Championships and represented Ontario at the Karcher Junior Nationals. Our goal for this season is to return to the Nationals and we aspire to be the Canadian Junior Women champions.

We have gained a lot of knowledge from our experience at Nationals, and are continually working to improve ourselves individually and as a team. Erin, Karen and Katie are curling as a team for their fourth consecutive year, and Lisa is a new addition to the team at third. We won the 2005 Ontario Junior Curling Tour Championships, our first competition together as a team. The High Performance Camp we attended in August was beneficial and helped to further develop our team.

We have a busy curling schedule which will help us to achieve our ultimate goal by giving us the chance to compete against the top junior teams in the province. We have committed to at least two team practices a week as well as individual practices and fitness routines.

We love to compete and work hard but we always have a great time doing it. We enjoy the competitive spirit of the game but we also value the friendships that we make along the way. At OFSAA 2003, we won the team sportsmanship award and Erin also won the individual sportsmanship award at last year’s Junior Provincials.

Becoming the next Curling Idol would be meaningful to our team both financially and to know that we have the support of the curling community. We will represent the sponsors well both on and off the ice. With our competitive drive and sportsmanlike nature, we think we will embody the spirit of Curling Idol.

Please see our accomplishments and schedule below.

Sincerely,

Team Morrissey
