I am extremely happy to announce that Team Homan from the Rideau and CityView Curling Clubs in Ottawa are the second BalancePlus Curling Idols. The team is made up of skip Rachel Homan, third Emma Miskew, second Alison Kreviazuk and lead Nicole Johnston. The team is coached by Earle Morris and Doug Kreviazuk. Thus far in their curling careers they have won 3 Ontario provincial championships and last year were the Ontario Curling Tour Champions.
"I was so excited when I heard the news. This is great.", said skip Rachel Homan." I would really like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for our team. Also, a special thanks to InTheHack and BalancePlus for organizing and sponsoring this contest. I still can't believe it. I am so lucky to be part of this team and play with three good friends. We would also like to thank all of our friends and family that have supported us over the past four years."
Rachel's team wins 4 new brooms and shoes from BalancePlus, and 4 pairs of mitts and gloves from InTheHack. As well, they will receive $10 from each pair of mitts or gloves sold from InTheHack from now until the end of March, 2006. If you want to support this great young curling team, buy a pair of mitts or gloves today.
Team Homan did a great job recruiting votes from all over the province. They had messages sent out from their home club to all the members, encouraging people to vote, and had messages put on many other curling websites, including ottawacurling.com and the Ottawa Valley Curling Tour.
BalancePlus and InTheHack are very excited to have such a strong representative as Curling Idol for the second year in a row. Last year's winners, Team Kelly from New Brunswick, won the Canadian Junior Women's Curling Championship, and were excellent representatives for their sponsors. Although they have big shoes to fill, Team Homan is certainly capable of reaching their goal of being the 2006 Canadian Junior Women's Curling Champions this year. We wish them all the luck in the world, and look forward to their bi-weekly updates on their team journal here at InTheHack.
